Language: | English is spoken with all children for greetings, simple directions, vocabulary, counting, songs and finger-plays. Children with no German/Swiss-German will gradually be introduced (teachers) in German with humor and as they are happily motivated in their activities. (They will get a „crash-course“ from their colleagues 2/3 of whom speak some German! as they choose to play together.) |
Holidays: | The school calendar is aligned with that of the public schools of Lucerne. The exact dates are mailed at the beginning of the school year, and are posted on our „window bulletin space“. Weekend „bridges“ are possible. |
Visits: | Regular attendance is expected. Of course, family activities have priority. (Please announce expected abscences.) |
Age: | Children should be 2 ½ yrs. to begin. The best entrance age is between 2 ½ and 4 years. Children have advantages of both confidence and achievement as they go directly from our school to Grade 1. |

Apointments: | Before a child is registered, we recommend that prospective parents spend a morning without their child, or at least an hour, observing the class in action. As they are still interested, and there is an opening, an appointment to visit with their child will be arranged. |
Parents: | Three or four times a year parents are expected to participate in various activities, parents’ evenings, family picnic, and as you/we choose individual conferences to discuss the developmental changes in your child(ren). |
